Meet Our Trainers

Matt McCann

Owner & Founder

My name is Matt McCann and I have been in the fitness/athletic development field since 2005. Fitness and athletic development have always been a passion of mine. I was blessed to work with a trainer as a kid to properly show me how to train and lift correctly to improve athletic performance.

In college, I majored in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine with aspirations of becoming a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. After college, a private fitness company hired me to do fitness and athletic development training. That’s when I realized I truly enjoyed training people in both fields. As I began my new position, I was also beginning my post-graduate program in Kinesiology at Northridge University where I volunteered in the weight room helping the strength and conditioning coach.

I quickly came to the decision that I enjoyed working with both fitness clients and athletes, so I stayed at the private training facility until I started my own business in 2010.

Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with many amazing people in person and online. I love my job and enjoy helping my clients meet their goals!

I have been in the fitness and performance training industry for a number of years. During that time I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse population that has included a wide range of goals including weight-loss, improving cardio vascular fitness, gaining muscle, speed development, hurdle technique, etc. I am now working at Matt McCann Fitness developing fitness programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families.

My youngest son has Down syndrome, his name is Isaac. As Isaac has aged and matured, I have made an effort to challenge him physically and mentally with training projects such Special Olympics and the “Tough Mudder”. What I have learned over the years is that I was just scratching the surface with Isaac and his willingness to challenge himself! Training and participating in those events has opened my eyes to what is possible for him. He loves to remind me that He Won the Tough Mudder! Which brings me to this point… one of the biggest gaps I have seen in the fitness industry is addressing the mental, physical and nutritional needs of people with intellectual disabilities. My goal is to provide appropriate programming for this population so that this gap can be filled.

My past performance training experience includes working with the JPll High school hockey team for 8 years as the strength and conditioning coach which includes two State Championship teams. I also served as the conditioning coach for Tennessee United Soccer club for 4 years.

The bulk of my performance training experience comes in track and field as a sprint, hurdle and jump coach on the high school and college level. I coached 4 State Champions and High School All-Americans at Station Camp High School. On the college level I have been apart of three National Championship teams, working with a combined total of 18 National Champions and All-Americans including NAIA, NJCAA, and NCAA.
